The Cairn Terrier, previously known as the short haired Skye Terrier after appearing at shows in the United Kingdom in 1909. This name had been denied by the American Kennel Club for being too closely related to the Skye Terrier breed. After many suggestions, Cairn Terrier was named, and accepted. When in Scotland, their origin, they would search Cairns for rodents which helped them decide on their name. The Cairn Terrier is, scrappy, bright, bold, and dependable.
